American odds to decimal

American odds are built around 100. A plus number is what a 100 stake wins; a minus number is what you stake to win 100.

+odds: decimal = odds ÷ 100 + 1
−odds: decimal = 100 ÷ |odds| + 1

So +150 is 150 ÷ 100 + 1 = 2.50, and -200 is 100 ÷ 200 + 1 = 1.50.

Decimal odds to American

decimal ≥ 2.00: American = (decimal − 1) × 100
decimal < 2.00: American = −100 ÷ (decimal − 1)

2.50 becomes (2.50 − 1) × 100 = +150. 1.50 becomes −100 ÷ 0.50 = -200.

Fractional odds

Fractional odds show profit over stake: 5/2 wins 5 for every 2 you put down. Divide and add 1 for decimal odds, so 5/2 is 3.50 and 10/11 is 1.91. Long or combined prices are often written over 1, like 6.16/1.

Implied probability

Every price implies a chance of winning: 1 divided by the decimal odds. -110 is 1 ÷ 1.909 = 52.4%. Both sides of a market add up to more than 100% because the sportsbook builds in a margin. The implied probability calculator takes it out. For a plain-English look at the most common prices, see betting odds explained.

Odds questions

How do you convert American odds to decimal odds?

For positive American odds, divide by 100 and add 1, so +150 becomes 2.50. For negative American odds, divide 100 by the number without the minus sign and add 1, so -200 becomes 1.50.

How do you convert decimal odds to American odds?

If the decimal odds are 2.00 or higher, subtract 1 and multiply by 100, so 2.50 becomes +150. If they are below 2.00, divide -100 by the decimal odds minus 1, so 1.50 becomes -200.

What does -110 mean?

-110 means you stake 110 to win 100, or 10 to win 9.09. It is 1.91 in decimal odds and 10/11 in fractional odds, with an implied chance of 52.4%.

What do fractional odds like 5/2 mean?

5/2 means you win 5 for every 2 you stake, plus your stake back. It equals 3.50 in decimal odds and +250 in American odds.

What does a plus or minus sign mean in odds?

A minus sign marks the favorite: the amount you stake to win 100. A plus sign marks the underdog: the amount you win on a 100 stake. +100 and -100 both mean even money.
